In a bold move to strengthen its position in the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector, Qapture Investments a Bermuda-based investment firm, has announced a series of strategic acquisitions and appointments. Led by Frederick Pye the founder of 3iQ Corp Qapture is expanding its operational structure and venturing deeper into the digital asset trading arena.
The firm has completed the acquisition of Flammarion Partners Ltd. a British Virgin Islands-based Approved Investment Manager and integrated the onchain yield strategies and operational infrastructure of Hermetik Trading Technologies. Additionally, Brendan MacNeil the founder of Hermetik, has been appointed as the new Head of DeFi at Qapture.
Expanding Regulatory Footprint and Operational Capabilities
With the acquisition of Flammarion Partners, Qapture has established a new investment management entity in the British Virgin Islands, renamed Qapture Investments (BVI). This entity will serve as the investment manager for Qapture’s Bermuda-domiciled funds and separately managed accounts. Operating under the BVI Approved Manager regime, Qapture can now manage professional funds and discretionary managed accounts with up to US$400 million in aggregate assets.
Qapture is also working towards obtaining an investment-business licence from the Bermuda Monetary Authority and establishing a Bermuda-domiciled Segregated Accounts Company. These regulatory advancements are part of Qapture’s broader strategy to enhance its operational capabilities and expand its service offerings in the digital asset space.
Integrating Hermetik’s DeFi Strategies and Infrastructure
The acquisition of Hermetik Trading’s onchain yield strategies and operational infrastructure brings a wealth of expertise and technology to Qapture. Hermetik’s systems and infrastructure, which include capabilities in yield optimisationrisk management and automated execution will be integrated into Qapture’s platform. This integration adds Hermetik’s three-year track record in onchain yield strategies to Qapture’s existing eight-year track record in directional digital asset strategies.
Brendan MacNeil who will lead the development of Qapture’s onchain strategies and product initiatives, has joined the firm’s Research and Investment Committees. MacNeil’s track record of designing reliable onchain strategies aligns perfectly with Qapture’s vision of offering next-generation products as on-chain asset managers. According to Daniel Pye president and COO at Qapture, MacNeil’s expertise is a valuable addition to the firm’s growing DeFi capabilities.
The Institutional Transition to On-Chain Markets
MacNeil emphasizes that digital assets are undergoing a generational shift, evolving from speculative investments to sophisticated asset management strategies. The combination of Hermetik’s onchain yield strategies with Qapture’s existing capabilities presents a unique opportunity to capture the institutional transition from traditional to on-chain markets. This strategic move positions Qapture at the forefront of the evolving digital asset management landscape.
As Qapture continues to integrate these new assets and personnel into its existing framework, the firm is poised to make significant strides in the DeFi sector. With a strong regulatory foundation and a wealth of expertise in digital asset management, Qapture is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for sophisticated onchain investment strategies.
