MT4 Account Security: Here’s How to Make It More Secure

Trading on the financial markets via user-friendly platforms such as MT4 is becoming more accessible. However, with so many of our lives happening on mobile devices and laptops, it’s no wonder that our digital accounts have become a magnet for criminals. For this reason, the need for a strong password is also growing.

When you perform online trades, OTP will help you add extra layer of security to your account and reduce the risk of being attacked when hackers infiltrate.

OTP is simply a sequence of characters sent to your mobile device to confirm that the transaction is yours. This article will show you how to set up an extra layer of security for your MT4 account using OTP.

To generate an OTP for an MT4 account, you need to link your trading account to the password generator available on MT4 mobile. The specific steps are as follows:

  1. Log in to your MT4 -> account click Settings -> select OTP. Here, you will be asked to set a 4-digit password. This password must be entered each time you log in to the OTP password generator.
  2. A new window appears. Select Associate with account -> enter the server name, account number, password and activate the “Associate” button -> press Associate in the upper left corner of the screen.

After that, your trading account will be tied to the generator. Similarly, you can link an unlimited number of accounts to the generators.

However, keep in mind that the one-time password appears at the top of the OTP section. Below it, a blue bar shows the duration of the password. It is no longer valid when the password expires and a new password is generated.

Currently, the number of cyber attacks and the degree of danger are increasing. Therefore, strengthening the security of the trading account is extremely necessary. By manually enabling OTP directly on your MT4 platform, you can give your account an extra layer of protection and avoid the risks of being exploited by hackers.
