Procedure for Applying for a Passport at the Post Office

Required Documents

To apply for a passport at a post office, you must submit:

  • A valid identification document.
  • The tax code.
  • Two passport-size photos.
  • Receipt of payment for the 42.50 euro postal bill.
  • Stamp of 73.50 euros.

In case of renewal, you will also need your old passport or a copy of the report of theft or loss.

Stages of the Process

  1. Submission of the Request: The citizen shows up at the counter with the necessary documentation.
  2. Form filling: The operator provides the forms to fill in.
  3. Biometric Data Collection: Biometric data is collected and the photo is legalized.
  4. Submission of the File: The file is sent to the competent police office.
  5. Receipt: The applicant receives a receipt indicating the relevant police office.

Home delivery

It is possible to request the delivery of the passport at home, an option chosen by 80% of the applicants during the experimental phase. This service was highly appreciated, with about 350 applications registered in the first two months of experimentation

The issuance of a passport to the Post Office is one of the initiatives to simplify the Public Administration, aimed at making public services more accessible and efficient. Other relevant projects include:

  • Polis Project: Improvement of postal services in municipalities with less than 15,000 inhabitants.
