How to add USDC to MetaMask

To add USDC (USD Coin) to MetaMask, you need to copy the USDC contract address and import it as a custom token.

USDC works on the Ethereum blockchain, so you have to make sure that you are on the “Ethereum Mainnet” network.

By default, you should be on the “Ethereum Mainnet” network.

If you are not, you need to click on the network drop-down box and select it.

In this way, the USDC token symbol and decimal will be populated automatically when you paste the contract address.

If you are not on the Ethereum Mainnet network, it will not be populated automatically.

1. Copy the ADDRESS of the USDC contract

The first step is to copy the address of the USDC contract.

MetaMask does not automatically add USD Coin (USDC) for you.

Then, you need to add it as a custom token.

Before you can add it as a custom token, you must copy its contract address.

To do this, go to CoinMarketCap.com and search for “USDC”.

Once you are on the “USD Coin” page, click on the duplicate icon under “Contracts” to copy its contract address.

Here is the “USD Coin” page on CoinMarketCap: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/usd-coin/.

Alternatively, you can click on the MetaMask logo to add USDC to your MetaMask wallet.

2. Unlock your MetaMask wallet

Secondly, you need to unlock your MetaMask wallet.

If you haven’t installed MetaMask yet, you need to do so.

To install MetaMask, you need to open the Chrome browser.

After opening the Chrome browser, you can install MetaMask here.

If you do not have a wallet, you must follow the on-screen instructions to create a new wallet.

In the process of creating the wallet, you are required to create a password.

You will also be given a secret recovery phrase where you will have to store it in a safe place.

If you already have a wallet, you can enter your password or import it using your secret recovery phrase.

3. Click “import tokens”

After unlocking your MetaMask wallet, you will need to import USDC as a custom token.

But first, you need to make sure that you are on the “Ethereum Mainnet” network.

This is because USDC runs on the Ethereum blockchain.

By default, the “Ethereum Mainnet” network should be selected.

If not, click the network drop-down box and select it.

Finally, scroll down and click “import token” to start importing a custom token.

4. Paste the USDC contract address

After clicking on “import tokens”, you will land in the “Search” tab.

First, click the “Custom Token” tab to start importing a custom token.

You will now see 3 fields including “Token Contract Address”, “Token Symbol” and “Decimal Token”.

Paste the USDC contract address (which you copied from step #1) into the “Token Contract Address” field.

After pasting the contract address, the “Token Symbol” field and the “Decimal Token” field will be populated automatically.

This is because you are on the right network (Ethereum Mainnet).

If you are on the wrong network, the fields will not be populated automatically.

Finally, click “Add Custom Token” to add USD Coin (USDC) to MetaMask.

5. Send or receive USDC

After clicking “Add Custom Token”, USDC will be added to your MetaMask wallet.

You can find it in the “Resources” tab.

You will now be able to send and receive USDC on MetaMask.

To send USDC, click “USDC” on the “Assets” tab.

Then, click “Send” and paste the recipient’s address.

If you want to receive USDC, you need to copy the address of your wallet.

You can do this by clicking on the duplicate icon under your wallet name (e.g. Account 1).

You have successfully learned how to add USDC to MetaMask!
