What is the Truckers Bonus?
The truckers bonus is an incentive provided for 2024 by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, aimed at third-party trucking companies. Its purpose is to support the ecological transition of the sector, promoting the renewal of the vehicle fleet with vehicles powered by alternative and more sustainable sources

The contribution can reach up to 24,000 euros, with the possibility of an extra bonus of 1,000 euros for the scrapping of old polluting vehicles. The bonus was introduced with Ministerial Decree no. 461 of 18 November 2021, which provides financial resources equal to 50 million euros until 2026. For 2024, 25 million euros have been allocated.
Who is entitled to the Truckers Bonus?
The bonus is intended for:
• Third-party trucking companies active in Italy, registered in the National Electronic Register (R.E.N.) and the national register of road haulers.
• Corporate structures derived from the aggregation of road haulage companies registered in the National Electronic Register or, in the case of vehicles up to 1.5 tons, registered in the national register of road haulers.
The bonus is reserved exclusively for companies whose main activity is the transport of goods and that use the contribution to the purchase of ecological commercial vehicles.
Purchases Eligible for the Bonus
The decree specifies the vehicles and equipment that can benefit from the incentive. Among them:
• Alternative drive commercial vehicles between 3.5 and 7 tons (CNG, hybrid or electric power) and greater than 7 tons (electric, hybrid, CNG, LNG).
• Reconversion devices for vehicles up to 3.5 tons.
• Euro 6E and Euro VI step E vehicles from 3.5 to 7 tons with scrapping.
• Trailers and semitrailers.
•Euro IV class vehicles or lower to scrap.
Amount of the Drivers Bonus
The amount of the bonus varies depending on the type of vehicle purchased and can be divided as follows:
• 2,000 euros for the conversion of vehicles up to 3.5 tons to an electric drive.
• 3,000 euros for Euro 6E and Euro VI step E light commercial vehicles with scrapping.
• 4,000 euros for CNG or hybrid alternative drive vehicles.
• 9,000 euros for hybrid or methane-powered vehicles up to 16 tons.
• 14,000 euros for electric vehicles between 3.5 and 7 tons.
• 24,000 euros for electric vehicles of more than 7 tons or with alternative traction running on liquefied natural gas (LNG) and hybrid diesel/electric engines.
Bonus increases
There are some increases for specific circumstances:
• 10% increase for acquisitions made by small and medium-sized businesses.
• Surcharge for scrapping polluting vehicles:
•1,000 euros for scrapped vehicles of less than 3.5 tons.
•3,000 euros for scrapped vehicles between 3.5 and 7 tons.
•7,000 euros for scrapped vehicles of more than 7 tons.
•15,000 euros for vehicles over 16 tons.
The increases are cumulative and are applied to the net amount of the contribution.
How does the 2024 Truckers Bonus work?
The bonus is provided directly by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport to the companies that request it. Applications are managed until available resources are exhausted and based on a ranking. It is important to note that, if a company does not prove that it has completed the investment, it loses the right to the contribution.
The available resources and the ranking situation will be updated periodically on the Ministry’s website.
How to Apply
To submit the application, companies must send the request via PEC to the address indicated in the decree, attaching the following documentation:
•Application form filled out and digitally signed by the legal representative.
•Copy of the legal representative’s identification document.
•Copy of the asset acquisition agreement.
Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until available funds are exhausted.
Methods of Disbursing the Contribution
The contribution will be paid only if there are resources available and will be calculated based on the reservations made through the system. Once the procedure has been completed and the requirements have been verified, the bonus will be disbursed by bank transfer
