Saipem wins a 1.2 billion dollar offshore EPCI contract

An important goal for Saipem

Saipem, in collaboration with PT Meindo Elang Indah, has recently obtained an offshore EPCI contract worth about 1.2 billion dollars from BP Berau Ltd. This contract is an integral part of the Tangguh UCC project, an ambitious initiative that aims to develop the Ubadari field, located in the province of Papua Barat, in Indonesia. Saipem’s share in this contract amounts to about 1 billion dollars, highlighting the strategic importance of this
project for the company.

Tangguh UCC Project Details

The Tangguh UCC project is not limited to the simple extraction of natural gas, but also includes advanced technologies for carbon capture, utilization and storage (EGR/CCUS). This innovative approach will not only help meet the growing demand for natural gas, but it will also have a positive impact on the environment, reducing CO2 emissions. Natural gas will be produced from the Ubadari offshore field, with the gas being transported to the onshore LNG plant for a
CO2 separation process.

Saipem’s activities in the project

Saipem’s responsibilities in the project include the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of two wellhead platforms, a platform for the reinjection of CO2 and about 90 km of associated pipelines. These activities are essential to ensure that the project is carried out to the highest standards and within the expected deadlines. The capture of CO2 and its reinjection into the field will not only help improve extraction efficiency, but also represent a significant step towards environmental sustainability in the
energy sector.
