NFT from Coinbase Wallet to MetaMask: Here’s How

Based on the convenience and preferences of the portfolio, every artist, collector and NFT investor would need to transfer NFT from one portfolio to another at a certain time.

In this article, I will explain how exactly I transferred my purchased NFT on OpenSea from Coinbase Wallet to MetaMask.

The steps below are not only intended for OpenSea, but for all types of NFT markets. Although there may be slight differences here and there for other NFT markets, it works for everyone.

How to transfer NFT from Coinbase Wallet to MetaMask?

Coinbase Wallet does not have the sending option for NFTs. You can only view your NFTs on Coinbase Wallet.

To transfer NFT from Coinbase Wallet to MetaMask, you need to select your NFT on Coinbase Wallet and open it on OpenSea.

Then, connect your Coinbase wallet to OpenSea or other markets.

Then, click “Transfer” on OpenSea and paste the MetaMask address.

Finally, confirm the transfer request that appeared on the Coinbase wallet.

That’s all. By performing these steps you need to be able to successfully transfer your NFT from Coinbase Wallet to MetaMask.

To transfer NFT from Coinbase Wallet to MetaMask, a transaction fee is required. This rate varies depending on network traffic.

Since I transferred the Polygon NFT from Coinbase Wallet to MetaMask, I have paid a 0.00317 MATIC as a transaction fee.

Steps to Transfer NFT from Coinbase Wallet to MetaMask Wallet

  1. Open Coinbase Wallet
  2. Connect Coinbase Wallet to OpenSea/Other Marketplace
  3. Click “Transfer
  4. Paste metamask address
  5. Confirm transfer
  6. Import NFT into MetaMask

1. Open Coinbase Wallet

As the first step, you need to select your NFT on the Coinbase wallet and open it on OpenSea or whatever the NFT market where you bought NFT.

To this end:

  • Open the Coinbase Wallet extension and enter your password to unlock it.
  • By default, you will land on the “Crypto” tab. Go to the “NFT” tab.
  • Click on your NFT.
  • Now select the NFT marketplace to view the NFT.

2. Connect Coinbase Wallet to OpenSea/Other Marketplace

To get full access to your NFT, you need to connect your Coinbase wallet with its NFT marketplace.

To this end:

  • Click the “Wallet” icon in the upper right corner of the webpage.
  • Then, select Coinbase Wallet.
  • After clicking on Coinbase Wallet, a message will open to confirm the connection. By giving confirmation, OpenSea/other NFT market can see your wallet balance and send transaction requests. But they can’t access your funds without your permission. Then, click “Connect“.
  • Now, OpenSea will send you a signature request to get basic access to your Coinbase wallet. Click Accept & Sign, then click Signature.

3. Click “Transfer

After establishing the connection between Coinbase Wallet and its NFT marketplace, you can get full access to your NFT.

In the upper right corner of your NFT, you can see four icons (if it’s OpenSea). On four icons, you need to click on the “transfer” icon.

4. Paste the MetaMask address

Now, you will be asked to paste the recipient’s address which is MetaMask in our case.

To copy the MetaMask wallet address, you need to click on the address just below the “network drop-down menu” option.

Always be careful while pasting the address. Because NFTs sent to the wrong address cannot be recovered.

After pasting the address, click “Transfer“.

If OpenSea or its NFT marketplace asks you to switch networks at this particular point, you need to switch networks.

5. Confirm the transfer

Now, a confirmation prompt will appear on the Coinbase wallet.

On this page, you can see the smart contract address, network, and network rate.

Just go through these details and click “Confirm“.

You will now see a full notification of the transfer along with the transaction ID (TxID).

Here’s how you can transfer NFT from Coinbase Wallet to MetaMask.

6. Import NFT into MetaMask

This is another crucial step involved in moving from Coinbase Wallet to MetaMask NFT.

The MetaMask extension by nature will not show NFTs. You can only view the NFT entry if you import it.

However, you can view your NFTs in the MetaMask mobile application.

To do this, open the MetaMask Wallet mobile application.

Then, go to the “NFT” tab and tap on “Import NFT“.

Next, you need to paste the address and ID of the NFT contract.

Finally, tap on “Import“.

Note: You can find the address and contract ID of your NFT in the “Details” tab on OpenSea.

You can now successfully view your NFT sent from Coinbase Wallet on MetaMask.

conclusion

Transferring NFT from Coinbase Wallet to MetaMask is not a simple task. However, this article has simplified the process with real-time screenshots.

When transferring NFT to another wallet, you need to be careful while copying and pasting the recipient’s wallet address. A wrong address means you’ve lost your NFT.

In addition, it is very important to keep the necessary crypto balance on your Coinbase wallet for the gas transaction fee/commission. The gas/transaction fee is approximately around ~$0.1 to $10 depending on blockchain congestion.

Always remember that you can only use the native token for the gas tax. For example, it is not possible to use the ERC20 version of MATIC to pay the gas tariff for the Polygon MATIC NFT transfer; You can only use the native version of the token.

To verify this transaction, you can use the blockchain chain explorer relevant to your NFT.

If the NFT is on Ethereum, use Etherscan; if it is Polygon, use Polygonscan.

Open the blockchain explorer and paste the transaction ID of this transfer. You can find the transaction ID (TxID) on Coinbase Wallet.
