MetaMask and Binance Smart Chain (BSC): here’s how to connect them

MetaMask is a cryptocurrency wallet that you can use to interact with the Ethereum blockchain.

The wallet supports any Ethereum-based token (e.g., ERC20, 721).

Although it is mainly used to interact with the Ethereum blockchain, you can also connect it to the Binance Smart Chain.

This way, you will be able to send or receive BNB on MetaMask.

In addition, you can exchange BNB for another token on a decentralized exchange like PancakeSwap using MetaMask.

In this guide, you will learn how to connect MetaMask to Binance Smart Chain (BSC) so you can send or receive BNB.

How to connect MetaMask to Binance Smart Chain (BSC)

To connect MetaMask to Binance Smart Chain, you must first install MetaMask and create a new wallet.

After creating a new wallet, go to the “Settings” page by clicking on your profile icon followed by “Settings”.

On the “Settings” page, click “Networks” and click “Add Network”.

After clicking “Add Network”, you will see more fields that you need to fill in.

This includes “Network Name”, “New RPC URL”, “Chain ID” and others.

You must fill in the fields according to the Binance Smart Chain network.

After filling in the fields according to the Binance Smart Chain network, click “Save” to connect it to MetaMask.

Here’s how you can connect MetaMask to Binance Smart Chain (BSC):

1. Install MetaMask and create a new wallet

The first step is to install MetaMask and create a new wallet if you haven’t already.

To get started, open Chrome and go to the MetaMask website.

Once you are on the MetaMask website, click on the “Download Now” button.

After clicking on the “Download Now” button, you will land on the “Download” page.

On the “Downloads” page, click “Install MetaMask on Chrome”.

After installing MetaMask on Chrome, you will land on the page “New to MetaMask?”.

On the “New to MetaMask?” page, you’ll see a couple of options.

This includes “Import Wallet” and “Create a Wallet”.

If you already have a secret recovery phrase, click “Import Wallet” to import your wallet.

However, if this is your first time using MetaMask, click “Create a Wallet” to create a new wallet.

In the process of creating the wallet, you will be given a recovery phrase.

Be sure to copy and save the recovery phrase in a safe place.

This is because you need the recovery phrase to access your MetaMask wallet in the future.

Finally, you need to check the recovery phrase to complete the wallet creation process.

2. Go to “Networks” and add a new network

After creating a new wallet, you will land on the “Account 1” page.

Currently, your wallet is connected to the Ethereum network (this is by default).

Then, you will see the ethereum icon followed by your Ethereum balance on the page.

To connect to the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) network, you must manually add it to MetaMask.

To do this, click on your profile icon in the upper right corner of the page.

The “My Accounts” navigation menu will open.

In the navigation menu, you will see several options including “Create Account”, “Import Account” and more.

After clicking on the “Settings” option, you will land on the “General Settings” page.

In the left sidebar, you will see more options.

This includes “General”, “Advanced”, “Contacts” and more.

Click “Networks” to open the network settings.

The network settings will display some networks that you can configure.

This includes “Ethereum Mainnet”, “Rapsten Test Network”, “Rinkeby Test Network” and others.

There is no Binance network, so you’ll have to add it manually.

To do this, click the “Add Network” button on the top navigation bar.

3. Add the “Smart Chain” network

After clicking “Add Network”, you will see more fields that you need to provide.

This includes “Network Name”, “New RPC URL”, “Chain ID”, “Currency Symbol (Optional)” and “Block Explorer URL (Optional)”.

To connect Binance Smart Chain (BSC) to MetaMask, you must fill in the fields according to the Smart Chain Mainnet.

Copy and paste the fields according to this:

  • New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
  • Chain ID: 56
  • Currency symbol (optional): BNB
  • Block Explorer URL (optional): https://bscscan.com

After copying and pasting the fields according to those above, click “Save”.
