2024 Vehicle Renewal Call: How It Works and How to Apply

What is the Renewal of Vehicles 2024 call

The “Renew Vehicles 2024″ call is a regional initiative that aims to support Lombardy’s SMEs in the scrapping of polluting vehicles and in the purchase of new vehicles with zero or low emissions.

The measure provides for economic contributions ranging from 2,500 to 30,000 euros per vehicle, covering up to four vehicles per company. New vehicles can also be purchased through financial leasing.

Requirements for participation

Businesses that wish to participate must meet the following requirements:

  • Be registered and active in the Business Register of the Lombardy Chambers of Commerce.
  • Be in good standing with the payment of the annual chamber fee.
  • Do not be in a state of insolvency or liquidation proceedings.
  • It does not fall within the exclusion fields of Regulation (EU) 2023/2831.
  • Have legal representatives without causes of prohibition provided for by the Code of Anti-Mafia Laws.

Companies active in the sale or brokerage of vehicles, identified by specific ATECO codes, are excluded.

Allowed vehicles

The contributions are intended for the purchase of new factory vehicles, approved by the manufacturer and registered for the first time in Italy. The vehicles must belong to the following categories:

  • L electric
  • M1, M2, M3 (passenger transport)
  • N1, N2, N3 (freight transport)
  • Pedal-assisted velocipeds for freight transport (zero-emission e-cargo bike)
  • The vehicle to be scrapped must be registered with the company for at least 12 months before the application. The purchase must take place after 14 May 2024

    Amount of contributions

    The amounts vary depending on the type of vehicle and emissions:

    1. Electric or hydrogen vehicles:
      • E-cargo bike: up to 2,500 euros.
      • L1e-L5e vehicles: up to 1,500 euros.
      • L6e-L7e vehicles: up to 4,000 euros.
      • M1 vehicles: up to 4,000 euros.
      • M2 vehicles: up to 15,000 euros.
      • M3 vehicles: up to 30,000 euros.
      • N1 vehicles: up to 8,000 euros.
      • N2 vehicles: up to 15,000 euros.
      • N3 vehicles: up to 30,000 euros.
    2. Euro VI/6D endothermic vehicles:
      • M1 for special use or N1: up to 5,000 euros.
      • N2 (3.5-7 tons): up to 10,000 euros.
      • N2 (7-12 tons): up to 13,000 euros.
      • M2: up to 13,000 euros.
      • N3 and M3: up to 24,000 euros.

    How to apply

    Applications must be submitted online through the dedicated platform of the Lombardy region, using SPID, CNS or CIE credentials. Each company can submit up to four applications for contributions, one for each vehicle. The procedure requires filling out a specific form and uploading all required documents

    Deadline of the call

    The call has two expiry periods:

    • First deadline: from 14 May 2024 at 16:00 on 31 October 2024.
    • Second deadline: from December 2, 2024 at 16:00 on September 30, 2025.

    The region may close the call early if the requests reach the total amount of resources allocated.

    Available resources

    The call has a total financial budget of 5,940,000 euros, divided equally between 2024 and 2025.
