The value of mental health at work
In recent years, the topic of mental health has emerged as a major concern for young professionals. According to a survey conducted by TEHA Group, 36% of young people interviewed stated that psychophysical well-being is more important than economic independence and professional satisfaction. This fact highlights a significant change in the priorities of the new generations, who seem to give greater importance to their mental state than factors traditionally considered fundamental to work success
.
The professional aspirations of young people
The research also revealed that 66% of young professionals are looking for a stable job that allows them to express their skills and grow professionally. This desire for stability is accompanied by a strong demand for recognition of merit, with 99% of respondents believing that this aspect has a significant impact on their work well-being. Professional satisfaction, therefore, is not only linked to pay, but also to the possibility of being valued in one’s work environment
.
Compensation and job satisfaction
Speaking of pay, 55% of young people say they are satisfied with their salary, while 93% consider compensation a fundamental parameter in evaluating a job offer. However, despite general satisfaction, 17% of the respondents believe that they do not receive adequate compensation. This suggests that, although many young people are happy with their jobs, there is a latent frustration with regard to
wage justice.
Flexibility and smart-working
Flexible working hours is another crucial aspect for young professionals. 36% of respondents said that flexibility has a ‘high’ impact on their well-being, while 58% indicated a ‘very high’ impact. Smart-working also continues to be an important parameter, with 42% considering it to be of great importance. However, it is interesting to note that part of the sample expressed conflicting opinions regarding the effectiveness of these working methods, suggesting that not all young people find advantages in remote work
.
Conflict management and psychological support
Finally, the survey highlighted the importance of conflict management and psychological support at work. 69% of young professionals said that a new leadership model, based on listening and support, is essential for their well-being. This data indicates a growing demand for work environments that are more empathetic and attentive to the psychological needs of employees, an aspect that could prove crucial for companies that want to attract
and keep young talent.
