Who is the creator of Shiba Inu? The identity of the founder and creator of Shiba Inu is an issue that has been debated among SHIB owners over the past year.
Since its formation in August 2020, Shiba Inu has garnered a considerable amount of attention. Many of his projects, such as the Shibarium Layer-2 and the SHI stablecoin, were first conceived by its founder in Medium’s original posts.
So, who is the creator of Shiba Inu?
Who is the creator of Shiba Inu?
The founder of Shiba Inu is called Ryoshi, but very little else is known about the mysterious creator of cryptocurrency. Similar to bitcoin’s founder – Satoshi Nakamoto – both remain anonymous.
SHIB was first created in August 2020 as a decentralized meme token. After its creation, Ryoshi gave 50% of all SHIB to Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. Buterin has since donated his collection of SHIBs, as well as burning 410 trillion SHIBs in the process.
Ryoshi also created LEASH – another cryptocurrency within the Shiba Inu ecosystem.
As explained on Shiba Inu’s official website, LEASH “has the opposite appeal to SHIB” as there are only 100,000 LEASH, with a current price of $468 at the time of writing.
However, much of the ongoing work for the Shiba ecosystem comes from other individuals. These include Shytoshi Kusama, his volunteer project leader. Shytoshi, other developers, and the various races within the core team are behind the announcements of many new SHIB projects, such as shiba Inu Metaverse and Shiba Inu games.
Ryoshi’s vision remains central, though. Projects like Shibarium, ShibaNet, and the SHI stablecoin were all first devised by Ryoshi in his various blog posts.
Who is Ryoshi?
Ryoshi’s identity remains unknown as of December 2021 and is likely to remain so for a very long time.
On May 29, Ryoshi published a now-deleted blog post titled “I AM RYOSHI,” in which the founder discussed his identity.
I said from the beginning, I’m nobody, I’m not important. Efforts to expose my “identity,” even if successful, would be disappointing. I’m just a guy touching a keyboard and I’m replaceable. I am Ryoshi.
After a year of silence, Ryoshi has now deleted his Medium blog and tweets. This has left many SHIB owners wondering where he went.
Ryoshi pointed out that SHIB is a pure, decentralized token that belongs to his community.
“Usually when we see some ‘project’ there is some important guy from the CEO and some guy from the technology and some roadmap,” Ryoshi said, before explaining that these individuals are then held responsible for the currency and its future by the “plebs.” With SHIB, Ryoshi says this is not the case.
The founder also stated that he is not a SHIB millionaire.
“The reality is that I still own 0 SHIB today,” Ryoshi said. “I can’t be pure and impartial if I’m worried about prices up and down or losing profits.”
A particular theory that has been reproduced several times comes from an image of Vitalik Buterin walking with a Shiba Inu dog, together with a group of friends. Since this image was also placed at the bottom of a blog post, many Reddit threads suggest that Ryoshi is part of this group.
Another theory links both Elon Musk and Vitalik Buterin to Shiba Inu, stemming from a Buterin invitation to Musk for DevCon. However, many in the community have since rejected this idea.
In fact, all this remains speculation and for now, Ryoshi’s identity is still unknown.
