The 2024 motorcycle and scooter bonus for non-electric vehicles has stopped due to running out of funds. Despite this, incentives for buying electric vehicles are still available. Let’s see what happens now and when the new incentives for motorcycles and scooters will start again
in 2025.
Exhaustion of funds for the 2024 Motorcycle and Scooter Bonus
A few months after the start of the 2024 motorcycle and scooter bonus, the funds allocated to non-electric vehicles have been completely exhausted.
The incentive, initially intended for two-wheeled vehicles with traditional motorization, is no longer available. The same applies to some incentives related to Ecobonus Auto 2024, such as those for electric cars in the 0-20 g/km CO2 range and for
used cars.
Incentives Still Available for 2024 Motorcycles and Scooters
Despite the stop for non-electric vehicles, some incentives remain active for electric motorcycles and scooters. As of today, the following are still available:
• 14,208,094 euros for non-electric L vehicles.
• 6,374,865 euros for electric L vehicles.
Incentive vehicles are divided into seven categories, with no power limits:
1. L1e: Two-wheeled vehicles up to
50cc.
2. L2e: Three-wheeled vehicles up to 50cc
.
3. L3e: Two-wheeled vehicles over 50cc
.
4. L4e: Vehicles with 3 asymmetric wheels (for example, sidecars) with
a displacement greater than 50cc.
5. L5e: Vehicles with 3 symmetric wheels with a displacement greater than 50cc
.
6. L6e: Light quadricycles with a mass of less than 350kg and a
maximum displacement of 50cc.
7. L7e: Quadricycles with a mass of up to 400kg or 550kg
for freight vehicles.
In addition to incentives for motorcycles and scooters, other benefits are still available in 2024, such as:
• 85,464,283 euros for the purchase of M1 vehicles with emissions between 21 and 60 g/km of CO2.
• 63,763,900 euros for M1 vehicles with emissions between 60 and 135 g/km of CO2.
• 19,333,061 euros for N1 and N2 commercial vehicles.
• 1,508,585 euros for the installation of LPG systems.
• 5,981,078 euros for the installation of methane systems in cars.
When do the next 2025 Motorcycle and Scooter Incentives start again
According to a note from the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) dated August 7, 2024, the new incentives for motorcycles and scooters will resume in 2025, even if the precise date has not yet been announced. Funds of 750 million euros have been confirmed for 2025, with an increase to one billion euros per year from 2026 to 2030
.
These funds aim to support the energy transition and the renewal of the vehicle fleet, with a particular focus on individuals and the less well-off.
How to Apply for Motorcycle and Scooter Incentives in 2025
Even in 2025, motorcycle and scooter incentives will probably be eligible using the same procedure used in 2024. Applications will be made through dealers, who will submit requests online on behalf of customers through the Ecobonus platform
