Overview of the universal single check

The single and universal allowance was introduced in January 2022 as an economic aid for families with dependent children. This benefit is granted starting from the seventh month of pregnancy up to the child’s 21st year of age. through the statistical observatory.

Data for the 2024 single check

In the sixth month of 2024, the INPS reported that 9.9 billion euros were disbursed to Italian families. This sum is in addition to the 18.1 billion disbursed in 2023 and 13.2 billion in 2022, bringing the total total from March 2022 to June 2024 to more than 41.2 billion euros. As of June 2024, 6,198,748 families received the single allowance, for a
total of 9,819,357 children.

Number of applications and payments in 2024

During the first six months of 2024, the INPS received a total of 363,265 applications for the single check. Here is the distribution of the questions for the individual months:

  • January 2024: 101,011 questions
  • February 2024: 87,076 questions
  • March 2024: 55,550 questions
  • April 2024: 39,385 questions
  • May 2024: 41,295 questions
  • June 2024: 39,948 questions

The average amount per child in June 2024 was 170 euros, including the expected increases. This amount ranges from about 57 euros, for those who do not have an ISEE or exceed the maximum threshold, up to 225 euros for the lowest ISEE classes

Single allowance for families with disabilities

The data for June 2024 show that families with disabilities in the nucleus received an average amount of about 40% higher than families without disabilities. This increase is linked both to the greater number of children in families with disabilities, and to the specific increases provided for by the 2023 budget law and confirmed for 2024

Territorial distribution of the AUU in 2024

The distribution of the amounts disbursed varies significantly between the different Italian regions. In June 2024, the regions of southern Italy received higher average amounts, with a monthly average of 185 euros per child, reaching a maximum of 194 euros in Calabria. In the north, the average amount per child was 162 euros, with a minimum of 153 euros in the Aosta Valley. In the center, the average amount was 164 euros.
