In 2024, the Single Universal Allowance for families with children continued to be a central support measure, with the disbursement of 11.5 billion euros in the first seven months of the year. This amount is in addition to the 18.1 billion in 2023 and the 13.2 billion disbursed in 2022. The updated data of the Single Check 2024
Since January 2022, the Single Universal Check represents the main economic support for families with dependent children, provided starting from the seventh month of pregnancy and up to the 21st year of age. After more than two years of operation, on September 17, 2024, the INPS published an updated report on the payments made up to the month of July
2024.
According to the report, the institution disbursed a total of 11.5 billion euros in the first seven months of 2024, providing a complete picture of the number of applications received and the payments made to the beneficiary families.
Applications for the Single Check in 2024
From the INPS data, it emerges that in the period January-July 2024, 397,702 applications for a Single Universal Check were received. Below is the detail of the number of applications submitted in the first seven months of 2024:
- January: 100,908 questions
- February: 86,863 questions
- March: 55,527 questions
- April: 39,373 questions
- May: 41,257 questions
- June: 38,892 questions
- July: 34,882 questions
Comparing the data with previous years, there is a continuity in the request for the Single Check. In 2023, there were 86,954 applications in March and 98,554 in December, while in 2022, there were peaks of more than 1.8 million
applications in February.
Single Check payments in 2024
In the period March 2022 – July 2024, the INPS disbursed more than 42.8 billion euros in total for the Single Check. In 2024 alone, monthly payments exceeded 1.65 billion euros, with an average of 171 euros per child, an amount that varies depending on the ISEE and the applicable increases

For those who do not have the ISEE or exceed the maximum threshold of 45,574.96 euros, the minimum amount per child is 57 euros, while for those with an ISEE up to 17,090.61 euros, the maximum amount reaches 199.4 euros per child. The increases for families with more children or with disabilities increase the amount even more

Single allowance for families with disabilities
For families with disabilities, the average monthly amount per child is about 40% higher than that received by families without disabilities. In July 2024, 407,814 applicants with disabilities in the nucleus benefited from this support, thanks also to the increases introduced for adult disabled children, confirmed by the 2023 and 2024 Budget Law

Territorial distribution of the Single Check in 2024
The amount of the Single Check varies significantly depending on the region of residence. In July 2024, Southern Italy received the highest amounts, with an average of 185 euros per child, while in the North the average amount was 163 euros. Calabria recorded the maximum value of 194 euros per child, while the Autonomous Province of Bolzano recorded the lowest average amount, equal to 153
euros.
Here are the detailed data of the applicants and children belonging to families receiving a Single Check for the main Italian regions, updated in July 2024:
- Piedmont: 414,548 applicants, for a total of 654,105 children
- Lombardy: 1,028,051 applicants, for a total of 1,653,909 children
- Veneto: 491,974 applicants, for a total of 788,430 children
- Lazio: 606,653 applicants, for a total of 934,308 children
- Campania: 668,239 applicants, for a total of 1,079,430 children
These data highlight the importance of the Single Check as a fundamental support for Italian families, especially in areas with greater economic difficulties.
