This meeting comes on the heels of CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s visit to Moscow, where he met with Russian intelligence officials. Notably, Ratcliffe’s visit marked the first publicly-known trip to Moscow by the head of the CIA since 2021.
An Axios report suggested that Ratcliffe proposed a trilateral meeting involving President Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. This proposed summit aims to facilitate a ceasefire and ultimately end the war that has ravaged Ukraine for years.

Ukrainian President Zelensky took to social media to express his concerns, stating, “Right now, Russia’s tactic is to wear down Ukraine and Ukrainians – first and foremost, our people.”
