The new minimum treatment for managers
The recent renewal of the National Collective Labor Agreement (CCNL) for managers of companies that produce goods and services marks an important step forward for Italian management. Starting from 2025, the minimum overall guarantee treatment (TMCG) will be set at 80,000 euros, with a further increase to 85,000 euros from 2026. This measure represents a significant improvement in the remuneration conditions for managers, who will be able to count on greater economic stability
.
Expansion of the definition of executive
One of the most important changes in the contract renewal is the expansion of the definition of manager. This change aims to include highly qualified professionals with technical-professional experience, who work independently to achieve business objectives. This change not only recognizes the value of skills, but it also offers greater protection and recognition for managers who play key roles in organizations.
Welfare and gender equality
The new CCNL places a strong emphasis on the bilateral welfare system, introducing measures to improve supplementary pension provision. In particular, an increase in the share of contributions paid by companies has been expected, thus lightening the burden on managers. In addition, the contract pays particular attention to gender equality, introducing specific articles to ensure equal opportunities and equal pay. These measures are essential to promote an inclusive and sustainable work environment
.
Incentives and variable compensation
Another important innovation concerns the mandatory adoption of variable pay systems, linked to performance indices and business results. This approach, known as MBO (Management by Objectives), aims to orient the performance of managers towards achieving specific objectives, thus encouraging greater responsibility and commitment. In addition, a ‘one-off’ amount has been provided for 2024, equal to 6% of the gross annual economic treatment, for managers who have not received increases
since 2019.
Statements from industry leaders
The reactions to the contract renewal were positive. Maurizio Marchesini, Vice President of Confindustria for Labor and Industrial Relations, emphasized the importance of this contract for business growth, highlighting how the new measures can accompany companies towards the necessary transitions. Stefano Cuzzilla, President of Federmanager, also stated that the new contract represents a decisive step in the recognition of high-level professionalism, strengthening the bond between
managers and companies.
