Public Salary Increases 2024: Complete Guide by Category

Negotiations for the renewal of state National Collective Labor Agreements (CCNL) are ongoing, with relative increases in the salaries of public employees for each category.

Thanks to the bargaining involving ministries and social partners, Public Administration employees will receive increases of up to 190 euros. This guide explains the increases in public salaries divided by category and the news of the next
CCNL.

News on Public Salary Increases 2024

One of the main changes announced by the unions concerns the increase in salaries for civil servants in 2024, between 115 and 190 euros gross per month.

Many have already received this increase in December 2023, as established by the Advances Decree converted into law, but thanks to the negotiations for the renewal of CCNL 2022, further increases are expected for other categories

Public Salary Increases by Category

Here are the increases in public salaries that will come with the renewals of the CCNL in each category:

• Armed Forces: Up to 190 euros gross per month with the CCNL Security and Defense. The increase varies depending on the employee’s background and role

• State Central Administrations: From 160 to 170 euros gross per month with the renewal of the CCNL Central Functions. This includes various ministries and government agencies

.

• Healthcare: About 160 euros gross per month for doctors, nurses and healthcare workers with the renewal of the CCNL Sanità 2019-2021.
• Local Administrations: About 140 euros gross per month for local government employees with the renewal of the CCNL Local Functions. This includes staff working for municipalities, provinces, metropolitan cities and unions of

municipalities.

• Fire Department: About 115 euros gross per month with the increase expected by the renewal of the CCNL category.
• ATA Staff: From 78 to 200 euros gross per year with the renewal of the CCNL ATA Personal Contract.

Any increases for teachers with the CCNL Scuola have not yet been decided, for whom negotiations are still ongoing. The same goes for the increases that will be established soon with the CCNL Public Security — State Police, the State Forestry Corps and the Penitentiary
Police Corps.

When do the increases for state employees arrive

The new increases in public salaries will be effective as soon as the related category CCNL are officially renewed, by the end of 2024.
