The increase in salaries for public employees in the health sector is coming in 2024. The average increase in the monthly salary will be equal to about 158 euros, financed with resources allocated to the renewal of the National Collective Labor Agreement (CCNL) for the 2021-2024 healthcare sector, for a total of
1 billion and 641 million euros.
What is the 2024 Public Employees Salary Increase
The salary increase for public employees in the health sector in 2024 is a guaranteed gross monthly increase of 13 monthly payments, intended for employees of the public health system, following the renewal of the CCNL for the three-year period 2022 2024.
This increase was financed by the Parliament through Decree-Law no. 145 of 18 October 2023, converted into Law no. 191 of 15 December.
Who is entitled to
The salary increase is due to personnel in the public health, socio-health, administrative, technical and professional sectors, health research and research support. This includes:
- Medici
- Veterinarians
- Healthcare managers
- Nurses
- Support staff
- Operators, caregivers, health professionals and officials
- Highly qualified personnel
How Much Does the Salary Increase by
The monthly salary of public health workers will increase by 6.32%, equal to an average increase of 158 euros for 13 monthly payments. The exact amount of the increase will depend on the level of the employee and will be defined in detail once the contract is concluded

How Augmentation Works
The increase will be paid directly to the payroll as soon as the renewal of the CCNL is final. It will not be necessary to apply: the additional amount will be automatically credited and reported on the payslip.
When Do the Increases Come
The increases will take effect with the final approval of the new CCNL for health by the ARAN, the unions and the Council of Ministers. The renewal of the CCNL Sanità is expected by the end of 2024, but the exact date will depend on the progress of the negotiations, which began on May 7, 2024.
