Project Bank under judicial administration: what it means for customers

The current situation of Banca Progetto

Recently, Banca Progetto, a digital credit institution, was subject to judicial administration by the Court of Milan. This measure was issued following an investigation by the Anti-Mafia District Directorate (DDA) that highlighted alleged links between the bank and companies linked to the ‘Ndrangheta. The CEO, Paolo Fiorentino, has reassured that the bank is not commissioned and that its operations will
continue normally.

The accusations and the measures taken

The charges concern funding of more than 10 million euros to companies suspected of having links with organized crime. In response to these accusations, the Board of Directors of Banca Progetto met to discuss the measures to be taken. A task force consisting of internal resources and external consultants has been formed to analyze and manage the situation. The objective is to ensure maximum transparency and collaboration with the competent authorities.

The role of the judicial administrator

Donato Maria Pezzuto, appointed judicial administrator, will be responsible for supervising the bank’s internal control systems. It is important to emphasize that his role does not imply the management of the bank, which will continue to operate through its organs. Pezzuto expressed his willingness to collaborate with the bank’s representatives to ensure full operations and reassure customers and
stakeholders.

Reassurances for customers and stakeholders

Banca Progetto has clarified that neither the bank nor its employees are being investigated. The Court’s decision refers to alleged problems concerning only 10 out of about 40,000 outstanding loans. The bank reserves the right to take legal action against the dissemination of false news that could damage its reputation. Customers can then continue to use the services offered without worries.
