New INPS 2024 Report: Pension Increases and Numbers

The INPS recently released data relating to the increase in liquidated pensions in the first six months of 2024. These data show a significant increase both in the amounts and in the number of pensions paid compared to the same period of
the previous year.

Average pension amounts

Pensions paid between January and June 2024 have an average monthly amount of 1,197 euros gross, higher than 1,168 euros in the same period of 2023.

This represents an average increase of 29 euros per month gross, even if, compared to the first three months of 2024, the average amount fell by 28 euros

Number of liquidated pensions

The total number of pensions starting in the first half of 2024 was 376,919, an increase compared to 370,136 pensions paid in the same period of 2023. Throughout 2023, the total number of pensions liquidated was 832,900, with an average monthly amount of
1,201 euros.

Types of increased pensions

The increase in the amounts and number of pensions concerns different types:

  • Old-age pension (including social benefits): average amount of 892 euros per month gross (+32 euros compared to 2023). The pensions liquidated were 152,641 in the first half of 2024, compared to 138,513 in the
  • same period in 2023.

  • Civil disability pensions: average amount of 820 euros per month gross (+19 euros compared to 2023). The pensions liquidated were 22,730 in the first half of 2024, compared to 20,442 in the same
  • period in 2023.
    Early

  • pensions: average amount of 2,054 euros per month gross (+115 euros compared to 2023). The pensions liquidated were 99,707 in the first half of 2024, compared to 138,513
  • in the same period in 2023.

  • Pensions for survivors: average amount of 898 euros per month gross (+56 euros compared to 2023). The pensions liquidated were 101,841 in the first half of 2024, compared to 102,736
  • in the same period in 2023.
