.
The goal is to bring minimum pensions to 650 euros in 2025. In this guide, we’ll look at all the news coming for 2025 and the rules still in effect for 2024.
What Are Minimum Pensions
Minimum pensions are those pensions that the State guarantees to those who have made insufficient contributions to obtain an adequate pension allowance. Thanks to the minimum integration, the amount is increased up to the threshold established by law, allowing citizens to have a decent minimum income
.
The calculation of the minimum treatment is based on an annual revaluation determined by ISTAT, which adjusts the amount to the cost of living. Minimum integration is granted on condition that the retiree’s income is below certain limits, which vary according to the marital situation

Currently, the minimum amount is set at 614.77 euros thanks to a temporary increase introduced by the 2023 Budget Law. If the Government does not intervene, the minimum amount could be reduced or increased slightly, reaching about 621 euros, based on the ISTAT revaluation
(+1%).
However, the Meloni Government seems intent on maintaining the increase of +2.7% and adding an additional bonus, bringing the amount of minimum pensions to about 650 euros in 2025. This measure would require around one billion euros, which could be financed through the reduction of
certain tax breaks.

Minimum Pension Increase: How It Works
The increase in minimum pensions follows the rules established by the INPS, which has clarified how this increase works. The 2.7% revaluation applies to all pensions equal to or lower than the minimum treatment, and the increase is calculated on the gross monthly amount
of the pension.
Pensions starting between January 1, 2023 and December 31, 2024 benefit from this increase, which is also applied to the thirteenth month’s rent. The additional amount is indicated on the pension slip and is fiscally taxable.
