Loyalist Exploration Limited has made headlines with the completion of an initial bedrock sampling program at its Gold Rush property in the Timmins mining district of Ontario. Conducted on October 10, the reconnaissance effort focused on the previously identified North Shaft Zone. The results indicate promising levels of both gold and silver mineralization.
During this program, a total of nine bedrock grab samples were collected. Grab samples are selective and primarily demonstrate the presence of valuable minerals. Notable results included 7.36 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold and 31 g/t of silver from sample GR25-05. Other significant findings were 2.93 g/t gold and 14.3 g/t silver in sample GR25-01, and 0.783 g/t gold and 4.7 g/t silver in sample GR25-02.
Insights into the Gold Rush property
The Gold Rush property spans approximately 877 hectares and comprises 41 contiguous mining claims located in Turnbull township, roughly 25 kilometers west of Timmins. Accessibility to the site is facilitated by an all-season gravel road, enhancing the feasibility of exploration activities. Loyalist Exploration has an option to acquire a 100% interest in this property, as detailed in a press release from March 31.
Geologically, the property lies within the Kamiskotia Gabbroic Complex, part of the larger Abitibi Greenstone Belt associated with the Superior Craton. The primary host rocks include tholeiitic mafic metavolcanics and intermediate metavolcanics, intruded by gabbro. Additional occurrences of anorthosite and pyroxenite, along with younger quartz porphyry and granodiorite bodies, are present. The distribution of gold mineralization is controlled by structural factors, occurring in shear zones within the intrusive gabbro and mafic metavolcanic rocks. Gold may be found in disseminated forms and vein-hosted structures, often linked to quartz veins and stringers, typically associated with silicified, chlorite-altered, pyrite-rich mafic rocks.
Historical exploration efforts
The Gold Rush property has a credible history of exploration. A significant diamond drilling program was executed by Sanatana Resources Inc., targeting the North Shaft and North Vein Zones. This program yielded impressive results, including 2.08 g/t of gold and 11.5 g/t of silver over a meter in drill hole NS-21-05, and 1.28 g/t of gold and 6.76 g/t of silver over five meters in drill hole NS-21-04. Additionally, drill hole NS-21-07 reported 0.79 g/t of gold and 3.86 g/t of silver over five meters.
Future exploration plans
Errol Farr, Chief Executive Officer of Loyalist Exploration, expressed satisfaction with the results from the initial sampling. He stated, “We are very pleased to report the results of our one-day visit to Gold Rush before the snow flies. This visit allows our team to orient itself to the historic results and begin planning our first phase of exploration on the property.” This planning phase is crucial for shaping future exploration activities at the Gold Rush property, aiming to further delineate and understand the mineral potential of the area.
The promising results from the recent sampling at the Gold Rush property highlight its potential as a valuable mining asset within the Timmins mining district. Loyalist Exploration’s strategic focus on expanding its portfolio in this region positions the company favorably for future exploration and development opportunities.
