NFT games have taken the world by storm in mid-2021, with Axie Infinity approaching 1 million active players. While there are already many great NFT games available, there are also many more to come in the future.

As gaming and cryptocurrency merge further, creating new aspects of gameplay that reward players with digital assets, here’s a look at some of the upcoming NFT games for 2022 and beyond.


There are many upcoming NFT games to be released on various blockchains shortly.

Here is a selection of five upcoming NFT titles.

Mines of Dalarnia is a free to play game currently testing its v2.0; in fact, its alpha is now playable.

The 2D platform mining game sees players battle their way through procedurally generated levels to mine blocks of minerals. Minerals can be used to upgrade items and characters or create a refinery used to lease land in your real estate game setup.

The first land sale began on December 27, lasting until January 16.

According to the latest Medium post, opportunities to test a mainnet build should come out in the next few months.

Initially, a mobile title, The Sandbox, is the next title from Animoca Brands, following an investment in rebuilding the game.

The Sandbox and its LAND exploded in late 2021 after the metaverse concept became a trending topic online.

Players will build this on LAND, The Sandbox’s digital parcels, which they can then monetize or sell for SAND, The Sandbox’s token.

As for its gaming aspects, this voxel-based virtual world allows gamers to create games or content on top of their EARTH.

The first public alpha was released in November 2021, running until December 20. In 2022, we can expect further testing, the release of The Sandbox DAO, and a mobile release, according to their roadmap.

Phantom Galaxies crosses many genres. It describes itself as an “open-world space sim with fast-paced mech shooters and an engaging story.”

With mech combat, upgradable mech NFTs, guilds, and universe exploration all set to feature, Phantom Galaxies is poised for a stellar 2022 if it can stick to its roadmap.

According to their website, player-owned planets will launch in the first quarter of 2022, followed by Origin series avatars and starfighters in the second quarter. This is before the early access game launches in Q3 2022.

Illuvium’s first open beta was initially scheduled for December 2021, with its full release also coming in Q4 2021.

However, this has been delayed, with an open beta expected to launch in Q1 2022. The latest developer blog post suggests there’s still a lot to be done, too.

This open-world car battler features a roster of over 100 Illuvials. Players can win by participating in pvP arena battles or through PvE missions.

Illuvium also runs on the Ethereum blockchain, using its ILV token.

According to its roadmap, the mobile version of Illuvium will be released in 2022, before a full sequel in 2023.

The company behind Gods Unchained, Guild of Guardians is a mobile fantasy RPG set for release in 2022.

Players will trade their loot with other players, earned through gameplay.

More than 120,000 players have pre-registered for the multiplayer dungeon RPG, which is focused on giving players “true digital ownership” of game assets via NFTs on the Ethereum blockchain.

A soft alpha is expected to launch in Q2 2022, followed by a beta in Q4 before the full Guardians Guild launch in Q2 2023, a delay from the initial early 2022 date given.
