The INPS family booklet represents a versatile tool for remunerating occasional work performance. Intended for small household expenses, it works through a system of vouchers worth 10 euros each, which can be used to pay for services such as babysitters, domestic workers, caregivers, tutors and other occasional
domestic services.
What is the INPS family booklet?
The family booklet is a pre-financed nominative booklet consisting of vouchers with a nominal value of 10 euros. This tool is intended for individuals who do not carry out professional or business activities, allowing them to pay casual workers. Whoever buys the booklet is defined as a ‘user’, while the person who performs the services is the ‘provider’
.
How does the family booklet work
The operation of the family booklet is based on the registration of both the user and the provider on the INPS portal. Once registered, the user recharges the pre-financed electronic wallet, paying in advance the funds necessary to cover the remuneration for the lender, insurance and management costs
.
By the third day of the month following the service, the user must communicate to the INPS the provider’s data, the agreed compensation, the place and the duration of the service. The provider will receive a notification of the communication via email, SMS and in the MyINPS personal area
.
How to request and use
To request the family booklet, it is necessary to register on the INPS portal through SPID, CIE or CNS. Alternatively, you can use the INPS contact center or contact the trustees for assistance. Services can be paid using vouchers that can be purchased through the INPS or F24 “payment portal” — Elide model
with LIFA reason.
Who can use the family booklet
Only individuals without professional or business activities can purchase the family booklet. It cannot be used by professionals, entrepreneurs, associations, foundations and public administrations, who must resort to the occasional performance contract
.
Who are the lenders
Lenders may be the unemployed, retired, students, workers, and individuals who receive supplementary wage benefits or other income support. The compensation received is exempt from taxation and does not affect the lender’s unemployment status
.
Lender registration
The lender can register with the INPS through physical branches, the INPS.it website or the INPS contact center. Once registered, the user can enter the benefits and register the provider for the payment of the same
.
Payment by family booklet
The purchase of vouchers can take place through the INPS or F24 “payment portal” with reason for LIFA. The INPS pays the agreed compensation by the 15th of the month following the benefit, with payment methods indicated by the worker during registration. Since 2024, the family booklet can also be purchased at tobacco shops and post offices
.
Accreditation of compensation
Benefits charged by the 3rd of the following month are paid by the 15th of the same month. Benefits entered after the deadline will be paid in the following month
.
Notifications and communications
The new notification features on the IO and MyINPS App, active since 2024, inform users and lenders about payments and updates to the electronic wallet.
Compensable activities
The family booklet can be used for small household chores, home care, additional private education and activities carried out by stewards in sports facilities.
