Increase in pensions: what’s new for 2025
In 2025, pensions in Italy will increase significantly thanks to the revaluation of social security and welfare benefits by the INPS. This change will affect more than 20 million retirees, bringing an increase that translates into an improvement in purchasing power for many citizens. The revaluation was established on the basis of an inter-ministerial decree and will take effect
from 1 January 2025.
Details on the revaluation of pensions
According to what was announced by the INPS, the percentage of change for the calculation of the equalization of pensions for the year 2023 has been set at +5.4%, with effect from 1 January 2024. This means that retirees will not have to worry about adjustments for the year 2024, but will benefit from an automatic increase in their performance. For 2025, pensions equal to or less than the minimum treatment will see an increase of +2.2%, equal to 13.27 euros, bringing the monthly allowance to 616.67 euros

Revaluation methods and income limits
The methods of revaluation vary depending on the amount of pensions. For pensions that exceed the minimum treatment, the INPS has established that 100% of the price increase will be recovered for those equal to or less than four times the minimum treatment, while for pensions greater than five times the minimum treatment, the recovery will be 75%. In addition, welfare benefits, such as social pensions, will follow the same revaluation index, with updated income limits for access to these
benefits.
Pension payment schedule
It is important to note that pension and welfare payments will be made on the first bankable day of each month. However, for the month of January, payment will take place on the second bankable day. For 2025, the calendar predicts that pensions will be credited on the first day of the month, with some exceptions in the holiday months. This will ensure more regular payments for retirees, who will be able to better plan their monthly expenses
